During the month of November, teams and individuals work to raise funds to support prostate cancer awareness and prostate cancer care in our region. Join us in raising funds and awareness!
Participants will begin growing moustaches or beards on November 1st, and grow until November 30th. Ladies - you can participate too - try a knitted version; grow your eyebrows; don't shave your legs! Be creative!
Our launch party will be held on Friday, November 1st at Cup of Jo's in Winchester, starting at 7:00 p.m, with refreshments available for purchase.
The wrap-up celebration will take place on November 30th at Winchester Foodland, beginning at 10:00 a.m. There will be music, prizes (top individual and group fundraisers) and refreshments.
Funds raised throughout this event will be split equally between the Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH) Foundation and The Ottawa Hospital Foundation.
The WDMH Foundation will use the funds to support the Cancer Care Navigator Program, helping individuals diagnosed with or affected by cancer, as they navigate their cancer journey.
Our Navigator, Michelle Renaud, works with cancer patients and their families to identify their needs, and to help them develop a plan to meet their specific goals. She can answer questions about care, provide education and links to local community resources. She also offers local support programs at WDMH, including yoga and 'nutrition during treatment' classes. This service is available to all cancer patients in the local area.
At The Ottawa Hospital Foundation, the money will be used to further support prostate cancer research.
